Custom Domain Setup
Point your own domain name to your VideoNest video website.
Overview
By default, your VideoNest video website is available at a VideoNest subdomain. You can point your own domain (or subdomain) to it instead using a CNAME DNS record. No hosting or server setup is required on your end.
Step 1 — Add your domain in VideoNest
Go to Website → Domains in your VideoNest account. Enter the domain or subdomain you want to use (e.g., videos.yoursite.com) and save. VideoNest will display the CNAME target you need to point to.
Step 2 — Create a CNAME record with your DNS provider
Log in to your domain registrar or DNS provider (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap, etc.) and create a new DNS record:
- Record type: CNAME
- Name / Host: the subdomain you want to use (e.g.,
videos) - Value / Points to: the CNAME target shown in VideoNest
- TTL: Auto or 3600
CNAME records cannot be set on a root/apex domain (e.g., yoursite.com). Use a subdomain like videos.yoursite.com or watch.yoursite.com. Some DNS providers support CNAME-like records (ALIAS or ANAME) on the apex — check your provider's documentation.
Step 3 — Wait for DNS propagation
DNS changes typically propagate within a few minutes to a few hours, though it can take up to 48 hours in some cases. Once propagated, your VideoNest website will be live at your custom domain.
SSL / HTTPS
VideoNest automatically provisions an SSL certificate for your custom domain. HTTPS will be active once DNS propagation is complete. No manual certificate installation is needed.
If your domain isn't resolving after 24 hours, contact support with your domain name and we'll help troubleshoot.
