Overview
VideoNest integrates directly with Apple News Publisher, allowing you to embed your videos into articles automatically. Once connected, you can manually assign videos to specific articles or let VideoNest intelligently match your most relevant content — and choose exactly where in the article each video appears.
VideoNest's Apple News integration is focused on video distribution. If you publish articles through a different CMS or article distribution platform, VideoNest can still support your video distribution to Apple News independently — you don't need to manage articles through VideoNest to take advantage of the video integration.
If you're establishing your Apple News presence for the first time, VideoNest can also generate an RSS Article feed for your articles. Go to Media → Feeds → Create Feed → Article → Apple News. This gives you a single setup path to get both article and video content into Apple News — without requiring a separate CMS integration. The video integration described on this page operates independently of whether you use the article feed.
Step 1: Retrieve your Apple News Publisher credentials
To connect VideoNest to Apple News, you'll need three credentials from your Apple News Publisher account:
- Channel ID
- Key ID
- Secret
How to find your credentials
- Log in to your Apple News Publisher account at news.apple.com/publisher.
- In the left-hand navigation, click Settings.
- Select API from the settings submenu.
- Your Channel ID will be displayed on this page. Copy and save it.
- To generate your Key ID and Secret, click Create API Key.
- Apple News will display your Key ID and Secret once. Copy both values and store them securely — the Secret will not be shown again.
If you have already created an API key in the past, you will only see the Key ID listed — not the Secret. You may need to create a new API key to retrieve a fresh Secret.
Step 2: Connect Apple News in VideoNest
Once you have your three credentials ready, navigate to the Apple News integration settings inside your VideoNest admin panel.
How to connect
- Log in to your VideoNest admin panel.
- In the left-hand navigation, click Integrations.
- Select Apple News from the list of available integrations.
- Enter your Channel ID, Key ID, and Secret into the corresponding fields.
- Click Connect. VideoNest will verify your credentials and establish the connection.
Double-check that your credentials were copied correctly with no extra spaces or line breaks. The Secret in particular is sensitive to whitespace errors when pasted from a password manager or document.
Step 3: Assign videos to articles
Once connected, VideoNest will automatically pull in all of your existing Apple News articles. From there, you have two options for assigning videos.
Manual assignment
Browse your list of imported articles and assign a specific video to each one individually. This is ideal if you want full control over which video appears in a given article.
Automatic matching
Enable VideoNest's automatic matching to let the platform analyze your article content and pair each one with your most contextually relevant video. This is a great option for publishers with large video libraries or high article volume.
Step 4: Set video placement
For each article, you can choose where the assigned video will appear:
| Placement | Description |
|---|---|
| Top | Video plays at the beginning of the article, before any article body text. |
| Middle | Video is inserted at a natural break point within the article body. |
| End | Video appears after all article content, at the bottom of the page. |
Placement can be set individually per article, or configured as a default for all articles in your Apple News integration settings.
