Player Customization

Brand your VideoNest player with your colors, logo, and custom control settings.

Where to find player settings

Player customization settings are available at two levels. Channel-level defaults are in Settings → Player and apply to all videos in the channel unless overridden. Per-video overrides are accessible by opening any video from your Media Library and selecting the Player tab — these settings take precedence over channel defaults for that specific video.

Branding options

Brand color: A hex color picker in the Player settings controls the accent color applied to the play button, progress bar fill, and loading spinner. Enter any valid hex code (e.g. #FE4800) or use the picker to select a color. Changes apply immediately to all embedded players using that color.

Logo watermark: Upload a PNG or SVG logo file to display as a watermark overlay during playback. Options include:

  • Position: top-left, top-right, bottom-left, or bottom-right.
  • Opacity: Slider from 10% to 100%. Recommended range is 30–60% for a visible but non-intrusive watermark.

The logo is displayed throughout playback and is not clickable by default.

Playback controls

The Control bar section of Player settings includes toggles for individual controls. You can show or hide each of the following independently:

  • Play / Pause button
  • Volume control and mute toggle
  • Fullscreen button
  • Playback speed selector
  • Captions toggle (only visible if captions are available for the video)

Hiding all controls removes the control bar entirely, producing a minimal player suitable for background or ambient video use.

Autoplay and mute settings

Autoplay: When enabled, the video begins playing as soon as the player loads. Most browsers require the video to be muted for autoplay to work. VideoNest automatically mutes autoplay videos to ensure consistent browser behavior. The viewer can unmute using the volume control.

Mute on load: Forces the player to start muted regardless of autoplay state. Useful for videos embedded in page backgrounds or feeds where silent play is expected.

Loop: When enabled, the video restarts automatically when it ends.

Start and end screens

Start screen: By default, the video thumbnail is shown before play begins. You can upload a custom start screen image per video to use instead of the auto-generated thumbnail.

End screen: After the video ends, you can display either a related videos card (automatically populated from the same channel) or a custom CTA button with a label and URL of your choosing. Only one end screen type can be active at a time.

Captions

Captions can be uploaded per video in VTT or SRT format. Navigate to a video, select the Captions tab, and upload your file. VideoNest accepts multiple caption tracks (e.g. English and Spanish) and displays them as selectable options in the player's captions menu.

💡
Auto-captions

Auto-generated captions are available on select plans. When enabled, VideoNest generates a caption track automatically after a video finishes processing. Auto-generated captions should be reviewed before publishing to a public audience.

Per-video overrides vs channel defaults

Channel defaults in Settings → Player apply to all videos that do not have an explicit override. When you set a value at the video level, that value overrides the channel default for that video only. Changing channel defaults afterward does not affect videos with existing per-video overrides. To revert a video to channel defaults, use the Reset to channel defaults option on the video's Player tab.
