Player Customization

Player Studio (Media → Player) organizes all player settings into sections within a player profile. Every change you make is saved to the profile — meaning the same settings apply to every embed that references that profile. Use the Save button to commit changes, Reset to revert to last saved, or Discard to abandon unsaved edits.

Appearance

Primary Color

A hex color picker that controls the accent color applied to the progress bar fill, seek thumb, and volume slider. The default is #FE4800. Enter any valid hex value or use the color picker.

Secondary Color

A separate hex color used for accents on your VideoNest-hosted channel pages. Does not affect the embedded player directly.

Dark Mode

Switches the player chrome — the controls background and UI text — from light to dark. Useful when embedding the player on dark-background pages.

Player Bar Style

Four options for the visual style and size of the control bar:

• Standard — the default balanced control bar
• Minimal — a reduced-height, lower-prominence bar
• Large — a taller bar with larger controls, better for accessibility or touch interfaces
• Floating — overlays the control bar directly on the video without a solid background strip

Text & Typography

Three independent toggles that control what text is displayed alongside the player. Each can be enabled or disabled:

• Show Title — displays the video's title from its metadata
• Show Description — displays the video description
• Show Date Published — displays the video's publish date

Playback

Force Play Mode

Removes all playback controls and plays the video continuously without stopping. Intended for ambient video, digital signage, or background contexts where the viewer should not interact with the player.

Click to Play

Shows the video thumbnail as a static image on load. Playback — with sound — starts only on the viewer's first click. This bypasses browser autoplay restrictions by waiting for explicit user interaction before playing audio.

Start Muted

The video begins playback with audio muted. The viewer can unmute using the volume control. Most browsers allow autoplaying muted video, making this useful when combined with autoplay behavior.

Persistent Controls

Keeps the control bar visible at all times during playback. By default, the control bar fades out after a period of inactivity; Persistent Controls prevents that.

Controls

Each item in this section is an independent toggle. Turn them on or off to show or hide that control in the player UI:

• Fullscreen Button — toggles the fullscreen button in the control bar
• Volume Slider — toggles the volume control. When hidden, audio plays at default level with no viewer adjustment
• Skip Button — toggles a skip-forward/backward button
• Speed Control — toggles a playback speed selector that lets viewers choose 0.5×, 1×, 1.5×, or 2×
• Mini-player — enables a picture-in-picture / mini-player mode the viewer can activate
• Closed Captions — shows a captions toggle in the player. This control auto-appears only when a subtitle file is attached to the video; it does not appear for videos without captions
• Ads — enables ad delivery on this player. Requires active enrollment in the VideoNest Monetization Program. See Publisher Setup for prerequisites.

Casting

Two casting options, each independently toggled:

• Chromecast — enables casting to nearby Chromecast devices. The cast button auto-hides when no Chromecast devices are detected on the viewer's network.
• AirPlay — enables AirPlay casting. Visible in Safari only. The AirPlay button auto-hides when no Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible device is detected.

Embed Behavior

Pop-out on Scroll

When enabled, the player detaches from its position on the page and floats to a fixed corner of the browser window as the viewer scrolls past it. The video continues playing while the viewer reads the rest of the page. The viewer can close the pop-out to return the player to its original position.
