What you can automate with Zapier

Zapier connects VideoNest to thousands of other apps without writing code. You build "Zaps" — automated workflows triggered by events in VideoNest or other tools that then take actions in VideoNest (or vice versa).

Common workflows include pushing new VideoNest uploads to a Slack channel, creating CMS posts when a video publishes, or triggering VideoNest uploads from form submissions, email arrivals, or calendar events.

Getting started

You'll need your VideoNest API key to connect the integration. See API Authentication for how to generate one. Then search for "VideoNest" in the Zapier app directory to add it to your Zaps.

Available triggers

Triggers fire when an event occurs in VideoNest, starting a Zap workflow.

TriggerDescription
New Video UploadedFires when a video is successfully uploaded to your VideoNest library.
Video Processing CompleteFires when a video finishes transcoding and is ready for playback or distribution.
Video Published to PartnerFires when a video is distributed to a specific partner feed, such as MSN or a CTV channel.

Available actions

Actions perform operations in VideoNest as part of a Zap triggered by another app.

ActionDescription
Upload Video from URLImports a video file from a public URL into your VideoNest library. Maps title, description, and tags from the triggering event.
Update Video MetadataUpdates the title, description, or tags of an existing video by ID.
Publish to Distribution PartnerTriggers an immediate publish of a specified feed, pushing eligible videos to the partner.

Creating a Zap with VideoNest

  1. Log in to zapier.com and click Create Zap.
  2. In the trigger step, search for VideoNest and select it.
  3. Choose a trigger event (e.g. Video Processing Complete) and click Continue.
  4. When prompted to connect your account, enter your VideoNest API key. Zapier stores this securely for future Zaps.
  5. Test the trigger to confirm Zapier can retrieve a sample event from your account.
  6. Add an action step — either a VideoNest action or any of the 6,000+ other apps in Zapier.
  7. Map fields from the VideoNest trigger payload (e.g. video title, embed URL) to the fields required by your action.
  8. Name and activate your Zap.

Example: new VideoNest upload → Slack notification

This Zap posts a message to a Slack channel whenever a new video is uploaded to VideoNest.

  1. Trigger: VideoNest — New Video Uploaded
  2. Action: Slack — Send Channel Message
  3. Map the Slack message text to include the VideoNest video title and embed URL fields from the trigger output.
  4. Select the Slack channel and activate the Zap.
💡
Field mapping tip

The VideoNest trigger payload includes title, id, embed_url, thumbnail_url, and channel_name. These are all available to map into downstream action fields.
