Playlists

Use playlists to organize your library and control which content goes into each distribution feed.

What playlists are for

Playlists let you group related videos together from your library. Their primary use in VideoNest is feed filtering: when creating a distribution feed, you can apply a playlist filter so that only videos in that playlist are included in that feed.

A video can belong to multiple playlists, and you can have as many playlists as you need.

Using playlists for feed filtering

When you set up a feed — go to Media > Feeds > Add New Feed — one of the configuration options is a playlist filter. If you select a playlist, only videos in that playlist will flow through that feed to its destination.

This is useful when you want different content going to different partners. For example:

  • A podcast feed that only includes interview-format videos
  • A CTV channel that only includes content from a specific series
  • A news feed that only includes videos tagged for a particular topic

If no playlist filter is applied, all eligible videos in your library will be included in the feed.

Creating a playlist

Create playlists from your Media Library. You can add videos to a playlist from any video's detail page, or manage playlist membership from the playlist management screen.

💡
One playlist per distribution destination keeps things clean. If you're distributing to multiple partners, creating a dedicated playlist for each feed gives you precise control over what goes where — without touching individual feed settings each time you want to add or remove content.
