Setting Up Distribution Partners

Connect your VideoNest library to CTV, podcast, news, signage, and other distribution platforms by creating a feed.

How partner setup works

Every distribution destination in VideoNest is configured as a feed. Go to Media → Feeds and click Create Feed to begin. The setup flow walks you through each choice in order.

Step 1: Choose your feed type

First, select whether you are creating a Video, Audio, or Article feed:

  • Video — outputs an MRSS feed. Used for CTV platforms (Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung TV+, Apple TV, Tubi, Pluto TV), news portals (MSN, Yahoo), and other video distribution partners.
  • Audio — outputs an RSS feed in podcast format. Used for Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other podcast directories.
  • Article — outputs an RSS feed for article and content portals. Used for Google News, Apple News, Yahoo, MSN articles, Flipboard, and similar platforms.

Step 2: Select your platform

After choosing a feed type, select the specific platform or partner. VideoNest sets the correct format, schema, and required metadata fields for that destination automatically.

Step 3: Choose Automated or Custom mode

This is the most important choice in the feed setup:

  • Automated — VideoNest populates the feed automatically based on filter rules you define. Your full published library is evaluated against the filters on every poll cycle. New videos that match your filters are added automatically. All filter options (playlist, resolution, duration, language, orientation, content rating, and more) are available in Automated mode.
  • Custom — You manually assign individual videos to the feed one by one. There are no filter options in Custom mode. Use this when you need precise editorial control over exactly which videos reach a specific partner, without any automated logic.

Automated feed filters

When you choose Automated mode, the following filters are available. Any combination can be applied — a video must satisfy all active filters to be included in the feed:

  • Playlist — limit the feed to videos in a specific playlist
  • Resolution — set a minimum resolution (e.g., 720p, 1080p, 4K)
  • Duration — filter to a minimum, maximum, or range in seconds
  • Language — include only videos tagged with a specific language code
  • Content rating — limit to specific rating tiers (e.g., family-friendly only)
  • Orientation — landscape, portrait, or both
  • Publish date window — include content from the past N days, or all time

See Feed Filters for a full reference on every filter type.

Custom mode: assigning videos

In Custom mode, go to Media → Feeds → [Your Feed] → Videos after saving the feed and add each video individually. The feed will only contain the videos you have explicitly added.

For audio feeds: artwork

If you selected an Audio feed type, you'll be prompted to upload channel artwork. This is required by podcast directories like Apple Podcasts and Spotify before your feed can be submitted.

Your feed URL

Once the feed is created, your feed URL appears on the feed detail page in Media → Feeds. Submit this URL to the partner platform during their channel or publisher setup process. See MRSS Feed Configuration for more on feed URL structure.

Special requirements

If you have specific needs not covered by the standard options, use the "Any other custom needs? Let us know" option at the bottom of the feed setup screen.

⚠️
Approval-gated partners

CTV channels (Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, Samsung TV+) and some news partners go through an editorial approval process. Creating a feed does not guarantee placement. See CTV Setup and News Syndication for specifics.
