Skip Elsheimer has spent decades digitizing and preserving vintage educational films. VideoNest syndicates and publishes his archive automatically. He focuses on the work that only he can do.
About AV Geeks.
AV Geeks is one of the most significant educational film archives in existence. Over decades, founder Skip Elsheimer has collected, digitized, and preserved thousands of vintage films — 16mm reels that captured how Americans learned, worked, and were taught from the 1930s through the 1980s.
Health films. Driver education. Civics lessons. Workplace safety. Cultural curiosities that exist nowhere else. The archive holds over 37,000 titles, with more than 10,000 now published online. Digitization is ongoing. These films are irreplaceable, and the work of preserving them is slow, careful, and skilled.
The challenge.
A collection of 10,000 films is a distribution challenge at any scale. Each title needs to reach the right platforms, in the right format, with the right metadata. Doing that manually — once per film, across multiple destinations — would require an operation AV Geeks was never built to run.
The archive would be preserved. But it wouldn't be seen. And without revenue from distribution, the preservation work itself would be harder to sustain. The answer had to be simple: every film on every platform, earning on every view, with no manual work per title.
"VideoNest lets me keep my exact workflow. I upload to YouTube, and they handle the rest. They automatically pull and distribute the content without me lifting a finger."
· Skip Elsheimer, Founder, AV GeeksWhat VideoNest did.
AV Geeks connected their archive to VideoNest through a single integration. They continue uploading to YouTube as always. VideoNest automatically pulls that content, formats it, and distributes it across the partner network — MSN, Yahoo News, CTV and AVOD platforms, AI licensing partners, SVOD distributors, and educational licensors.
Every new film digitized enters the distribution network immediately. No manual submission. No platform-specific formatting. The library grows; the distribution footprint grows with it.
The result.
Over 10,000 films now reach audiences across the VideoNest partner network — CTV apps, news platforms, AVOD services, AI licensing partners, SVOD distributors, and educational licensors. Revenue accumulates continuously, with no manual involvement from the AV Geeks team. Millions of additional views that would never have happened otherwise.
The digitization work, the work that actually requires human expertise, gets all the attention. The distribution and revenue side runs on its own. The archive gets seen. The work gets funded. The films survive.
"VideoNest handles the entire distribution pipeline for our archive. We focus on digitization. They handle everything else, including the checks."
