Getting Started
What is VideoNest?
VideoNest is a professional video hosting, distribution, and monetization platform built for publishers, media companies, and content creators. You upload your videos once, and VideoNest handles transcoding, storage, and distribution to hundreds of platforms including MSN, Fire TV, Spotify, and Roku.
Unlike consumer platforms, VideoNest is designed for teams that produce video at scale and want to own their audience, their data, and their revenue stream.
How do I sign up for VideoNest?
You can create a free account at app.videonest.co. No credit card is required to get started. Once you're in, you can upload videos, set up your channel, and explore distribution options immediately.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. VideoNest is free to start — you can upload videos, manage your library, and test core features without paying anything. Paid plans unlock higher storage limits, premium distribution channels, and monetization features. See our pricing page for details on what's included at each tier.
Who is VideoNest built for?
VideoNest serves professional publishers and media companies — sports broadcasters, newsrooms, entertainment brands, and independent content creators — who produce video regularly and need reliable infrastructure behind it. If you're publishing more than a handful of videos per month and care about distribution reach and revenue, VideoNest is built for you.
Do I need technical expertise to use VideoNest?
No. VideoNest is designed to be used by editorial and media teams, not just developers. Uploading, tagging, scheduling, and distributing videos are all done through a straightforward web interface. Developer features like the API and SDK are available for teams that want them, but they're never required.
Video Hosting & Storage
Are there limits on how many videos I can upload?
Storage and upload limits depend on your plan. Free accounts include a generous starter allowance. Paid plans offer significantly more storage, and enterprise plans can be tailored to your catalog size. There are no per-video fees on any paid plan — you pay for your plan, not for each piece of content.
What video formats does VideoNest accept?
VideoNest accepts all major video formats including MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, and WebM. When you upload, VideoNest automatically transcodes your file to optimized delivery formats (including HLS adaptive bitrate), so your viewers always get the best quality for their connection speed.
What resolution and quality does VideoNest support?
VideoNest supports video up to 4K (3840×2160). Uploads are transcoded into multiple quality tiers — from 360p through 1080p or 4K depending on your source file — and served adaptively so playback quality adjusts automatically based on the viewer's bandwidth.
How is video delivered to viewers? Does VideoNest use a CDN?
Yes. All video on VideoNest is delivered through a global content delivery network (CDN), ensuring fast load times and smooth playback for viewers regardless of their geographic location. You don't need to configure anything — CDN delivery is built into every VideoNest plan.
Distribution
How does VideoNest distribution work?
When you publish a video on VideoNest, you can choose which distribution channels it goes to. VideoNest automatically formats your content for each destination — generating the correct feed format, metadata structure, and thumbnail specs — and submits or syncs it on your behalf. You manage one library; VideoNest handles the platform-by-platform complexity.
Which platforms can I distribute to?
VideoNest connects to hundreds of distribution platforms and integrations. Key destinations include MSN, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, NewsBreak, Yahoo, Google News, Flipboard, SmartNews, Apple News, and many more. Visit our integrations page for the full list.
How long does it take for content to appear on distribution platforms?
Timing varies by platform. Most MRSS-based destinations (like MSN and Fire TV) pull from your feed on their own schedule, which is typically every few hours. Some platforms require a one-time approval of your channel before content begins flowing — that review process is usually 1–5 business days and only happens once per channel.
Can I control which videos go to which platforms?
Yes. VideoNest gives you per-video and per-channel distribution controls. You can restrict specific videos from certain platforms, set region-specific rules, and configure separate feeds for different content types. Full distribution control is available on paid plans.
Monetization
How does video monetization work on VideoNest?
VideoNest places ads against your video content on distribution platforms and shares the resulting revenue with you. Once your channel is approved for monetization, ads run automatically — you don't need to manage advertiser relationships or trafficking. Revenue is calculated based on ad impressions and CPM rates across the platforms your content reaches.
Learn more on the monetization page.
What types of ads does VideoNest run?
VideoNest supports pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll video ads, as well as display and overlay formats depending on the destination platform. Ad format availability is determined by what each distribution partner supports — VideoNest optimizes for the highest-value format available on each platform.
When and how do I get paid?
Revenue is tracked in your VideoNest earnings dashboard in real time. Payouts are processed on a monthly basis, typically within 30–45 days following the close of the earnings period. Payment methods and minimum payout thresholds are configurable in your account settings. Contact our team if you have specific questions about your payout setup.
