Filter Your Media Library and Single Video Pages Faster

We've refreshed the Media Library and Single Video pages so you can find and manage videos in fewer clicks.

Finding a specific video in a growing library has always taken more clicks than it should. Search gets you partway there, but when you need to see all your published MSN videos, or just the drafts that haven't shipped yet, scrolling a flat list isn't the right tool.

The Media Library and Single Video pages now include a full filter bar, five filter pills that let you narrow your video list by content type, publishing status, format, feed type, and tags. Select one or stack several; the list updates immediately as each filter activates.

Key Takeaways

  • New filter pills are live on the Media Library and Single Video pages
  • Filter by content type, publishing status, format, feed type, and tags
  • Filters stack, applying Status + Feed Type shows only videos matching both
  • Active filters appear as orange pills with an ✕ to clear individually
  • The same filter bar is available on Single Video pages, not just the main library

How to Filter Your Media Library

The filter bar sits at the top of the video list on the Media Library page. No settings to enable, it's there by default.

  1. Open the Media Library from the Videos section in the left sidebar
  2. Click a filter pill, Content Type, Status, Format, Feed Type, or Tags
  3. Choose a value from the dropdown (e.g. Status → Published)
  4. The list updates immediately, videos that don't match fade out, matching videos stay
  5. Add more filters to narrow further, each active filter turns orange with an ✕ to clear it

Active filter turns orange, non-matching videos fade out

To reset, click the ✕ on any active filter pill, or navigate away and back, filters don't persist between sessions, so your default view is always unfiltered.

What You Can Filter By

Content Type: separate long-form videos, shorts, and other formats at a glance.

Status: Published, Draft, and Scheduled. Useful for quickly spotting what's live versus what's still in progress. Filtering to Scheduled shows every video with a pending publish date in one view.

Format: filter by file format if you're managing a mixed library of MP4, MOV, and other types.

Feed Type: filter by distribution destination (MSN, Yahoo, Amazon Fire TV, and others). If you need to audit everything going to a specific feed before a publish run, this is the fastest way to pull that list.

Tags: filter by any custom tags you've applied to videos in your library.

Filters work on Single Video pages too. If you're already inside a video and want to compare it against others in the same feed or status, the filter bar is available there, you don't need to navigate back to the main library to get a filtered view.

Stacking Filters

Each filter you apply narrows the results further. Status: Published + Feed Type: MSN shows only videos that are published and assigned to the MSN feed. Status: Draft + Tags: [campaign name] shows every unpublished video tagged for a specific campaign.

Active filters are visible as orange pills along the top of the list. You can clear them one at a time or clear all by navigating away. This makes it easy to move between filtered views without losing context about which filters are in play.

Frequently Asked Questions

What filters are available in the VideoNest Media Library?

The Media Library includes filter pills for Content Type, Status (Published, Draft, Scheduled), Format, Feed Type (MSN, Yahoo, Amazon Fire TV, and others), and Tags. You can apply multiple filters at once, the list narrows to videos matching all active filters.

Can I apply multiple filters at the same time?

Yes. Filters stack. Selecting Status: Published and Feed Type: MSN shows only videos that are published and assigned to the MSN feed. Each active filter appears as an orange pill with an ✕ to clear it individually.

Do the same filters work on Single Video pages?

Yes. The same filter bar is available on Single Video pages, not just the main Media Library. If you're working on a specific video and want to see others with the same feed type or status, you can filter from that page without going back to the library.

Do I need to reconfigure filters every time I open the Media Library?

Filters reset when you navigate away, so your view is always unfiltered when you arrive. This keeps the default state predictable, you won't accidentally miss videos because a filter was left active from a previous session.

Does filtering in the Media Library affect my distribution feeds or published videos?

No. Filters in the VideoNest Media Library only affect what you see in your current view, they don't change video settings, distribution assignments, or publishing status. Filtering is a display tool for finding and managing videos, not an action that modifies them.

How do I clear an active filter in the VideoNest Media Library?

Click the ✕ on any active filter pill to clear it individually. To clear all filters at once, navigate away from the page and return, filters don't persist between sessions, so your default view is always unfiltered when you arrive.

The Media Library is where every publish workflow starts. Faster filtering means less time managing your library and more time getting videos in front of an audience.
