How to Automate Video Publishing with Make and VideoNest

Every time you publish a video, there's a chain of work that follows: updating your CMS, notifying your team, logging to a spreadsheet, pushing metadata to distribution platforms. Done manually, that's 20–30 minutes per video. Done with Make and VideoNest, it happens automatically the moment you hit publish.

VideoNest integrates with Make as a trigger source, meaning any publish event in your VideoNest library can kick off a multi-step scenario across 1,000+ connected apps — no code required.

What you can automate

The VideoNest + Make integration supports two types of triggers:

  • Video published — fires whenever a new video goes live in your library
  • View milestone reached — fires when a video hits a target view count

From those triggers, you can chain together any combination of actions: push to a CMS, send a Slack message, create a spreadsheet row, update a database, trigger an email campaign, or post to social media. Make's visual scenario builder lets you map the entire workflow without writing a line of code.

4 workflows to build first

Workflow 1 — Publish to WordPress automatically

VideoNest: Video Published Make: Map title, description, embed code WordPress: Create Draft Post

New videos create a WordPress draft pre-loaded with your video's metadata and embed code. Your editorial team reviews and publishes — no copy-pasting required.

Workflow 2 — Alert your team in Slack

VideoNest: Video Published Make: Format message Slack: Post to #content channel

Every new video triggers a Slack post with the title, thumbnail URL, and a direct link. Your team sees what's live the moment it goes live.

Workflow 3 — Log to a production tracker

VideoNest: Video Published Make: Extract metadata Google Sheets: Add row

Title, publish date, duration, category, and video URL are written to a Google Sheet automatically. Useful for editorial calendars, rights tracking, and performance reviews.

Workflow 4 — Trigger an email campaign on milestone views

VideoNest: 10K Views Reached Make: Pull video data Mailchimp: Send campaign

When a video breaks a view threshold, automatically send a newsletter segment or social proof email to your subscriber list. Great for content that's gaining traction.

How to get started

  1. Connect VideoNest to Make — in your Make account, search for VideoNest and authenticate with your API key from the VideoNest dashboard.
  2. Choose your trigger — select "Video Published" or "View Milestone Reached" as the scenario trigger.
  3. Add your action modules — drag in the apps you want to notify or update (WordPress, Slack, Google Sheets, Airtable, HubSpot, and 1,000+ others).
  4. Test and activate — run a test publish in VideoNest to confirm the scenario fires correctly, then turn it on.

Once active, the scenario runs silently in the background every time you publish. You focus on the content; Make handles the rest.
